This gallery includes tanks and self propelled guns that were introduced after World War II ended. It consists of Soviet (former USSR) and American models plus one Federal Republic of Germany model.
Note that the MBT-70 shown is a prototype, developed during a joint project with Germany starting in the 1960’s. The development program was eventually cancelled in the United States in 1971, leading to the funding and development of the M1 Abrams series. The Abrams series is still the main battle tank of US Forces (currently the Abrams M1A2). They have consistently demonstrated battlefield superiority, most recently in the Gulf and Iraq Wars (1992 and 2003).
